[classical music]Thomas Anapol: Hello, My name is Thomas Anapol. I am a partner here at Anapol, Schwartz and I'm here to alert you as to the dangers of using ephedra.
Ephedra is a naturally grown herb. It's not a drug. It's commonly found in popular, over-the-counter weight loss and energy products.
Because Ephedra is a natural herb and not a drug its manufacturers for years were able market and sell Ephedra directly to the American public without conducting studies to see if the product was safe.
While Ephedra provided temporary energy and short-term weight loss benefits to some, its use also resulted in thousands of serious health problems. Problems include heart attack, stroke, seizures and even death.
Recently the FDA ordered all products containing ephedra to be removed from the market because they were deemed unsafe when used for weight loss or to enhance athletic performance. These companies, who marketed and sold ephedra-containing products, knew for years that the use of their products could cause serious injury and in some cases even death.
They must be held accountable for their actions and we intend to do just that.
If you or a family member has taken ephedra and experienced an adverse reaction, I urge you to contact us. Thank you.
